How Gerald Robinson Magic brought people together at Keychain’s Customer Dinner
Keychain, a company that create food products, connects customers with suppliers, and manages whole entire supply chains, wanted to host their customers and let someone else help with entertainment and breaking the ice.
That’s where I come in.
I am Gerald Robinson, I am a Corporate Magician based in Denver. I am an expert at braking the ice and bringing high end and impossible magic to your guests.
Here is what the cocktail hour for Keychain looked like at Corsica Wine Bar in RiNo District of Denver:
What Keychain wanted for their customers and prospective clients.
Keychain was hosting current customers and prospective customers from the Newtopia Now conference that was happening at the Colorado Convention Center. This was going to be a space where there were about 50 people who didn’t really know each other. The brief was simple, connect the people.
Why close up mingling magic works at a 50 people cocktail reception
Close up magic isn’t a show in the distance, its an arms length away, the card is in your hand, the coin is under your watch. You can’t take your phone out and leave because you are a part of the magic. For Keychain, that mattered. Bringing genuine connection to their customers in an important part of thier business. Close up magic give them a shared story and something to tell their company about.
This makes Keychain stand out, these customers could have gone to any dinner but at the reception they saw magic!
What most Denver planners get wrong about cocktail hour:
They book entertainment last, for this Keychain event I was booked the day before the event was happening! The best teams book 6-9 weeks ahead.
They want me to perform while people are eating. People don’t want to watch magic while they are eating. Trust me after working at Casa Bonita as a magician when they re-opned I have learned it the hard way. Too many beans on cards
They book a kids magician for a corporate crowd. Family Friendly does not mean kids show it means that I keep it clean and professional.
They treat entertainment as a line item, not part of the experience. Catering feeds them, Entertainment is what they’ll remember.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How does mingling magic work? Do you need to set up anything?
Nope! I show up at your event before guests arrive will all of the magic already ready to go on my person. Then I walk the event going group to group breaking the ice and showing magic.
When should I book entertainment for my Corporate event?
Teams will book me 6 months to 6 weeks in advance. That being said the holiday season fills up fast.
Can one person really show enough magic to all our guests if they are only there for an hour?
Yes! Mingling close up magic happens in people’s hands, so the card is appearing in their hand or under their watch. Usually I am able to perform for about 1 person per minute. So if you have 50 guests at a reception I can make sure every single one of the sees magic. At larger events I work the room and make sure as many people can see magic as possible.
How much does a Denver Corporate Magician cost?
Price depends on guest count and want components booked. A medium corporate Christmas party (50-200 guests full evening of mingling magic plus a magic show) is $2500 - $4000. Larger groups price differently. If you are only looking for mingling magic at your event the price is $1500-$2500.
